Hesselbjerg, Schrempf Arrive in Eugene for NCAA Track and Field Championships

ESPN networks will cover all four days of the event

EUGENE, Ore. – The final two Colonels competing in 2014-15, senior Ole Hesselbjerg and freshman Carina Schrempf, will run at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week at Historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
 
WHAT TO KNOW
 
- Hesselbjerg will open the action by competing in the semifinals of the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Wednesday at 7:38 p.m. ET. The finals of the steeplechase are slated for Friday night at around 8:00 p.m. ET.
 
- Schrempf will compete in the semifinals of the women's 800 meters on Thursday at 8:44 p.m. ET. The finals of the 800 meters will be held on Saturday at 6:20 p.m. ET.
 
- The top-eight finishers receive first team All-America honors. The second-eight finishers receive second team All-America honors. The final-eight finishers are named honorable mention All-America.
 
- Hesselbjerg and Schrempf are two of only seven Ohio Valley Conference athletes to qualify for the NCAA Championships, joining Southeast Missouri jumpers Blake Smith and Chris Martin, SIUE jumper La'Derrick Ward, Tennessee State jumper Clairwin Dameus and Tennessee State hurdler Amber Hughes.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
 
- Hesselbjerg arrives in Eugene with a prime shot at earning first team All-America honors for the third consecutive season. The native of Charlottenlund, Denmark won his heat at the NCAA East Region Preliminaries with a time of 8:36.94 and he has run the second-fastest time in the country so far this season (a school-record 8:33.22).
 
- Schrempf ran a personal-best and school-record time of 2:04.76 at the NCAA East Regional Preliminaries to qualify for the NCAAs. She enters the 24-athlete field ranked No. 20. Schrempf is one of only four freshmen in the field.
