RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team looks to get back on track as it welcomes the Alabama A&M Bulldogs to Richmond for a two-game series set to get underway on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium.
Game one of the series is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, and game two is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Colonels (8-8, 1-2 OVC) were on a five-game winning streak before dropping two games to Ohio Valley Conference opponent Belmont on Friday. Eastern has won seven of its last 10 games, including a sweep of Youngstown State and a 16-15 extra innings victory over Western Kentucky on March 8.
The Bulldogs (4-14, 1-2 SWAC) are on a six-game losing streak but hold wins over Fort Wayne, Alabama State and Savannah State this season.
EKU's offense is led by
Cornell Nixon's team and OVC best 20 runs. His seven stolen bases are the second most in the OVC.
Shea Sullivan ranks second in the OVC in three categories, with 26 hits, 19 RBIs and two triples.
Ben Fisher is second in the conference in doubles with seven. Both Nixon and
Nick Howie are tied for the OVC lead in walks with 11.
Eastern will have right handed pitcher
Max Ford on the mound for Tuesday's tilt, and give the ball to lefty
Casey Collins for Wednesday's matchup.
The Colonels will follow the series against the Bulldogs with a three-game weekend series against Chicago State. Game one of that series is set for a 4 p.m. start on Friday.
