Colonels Take To The Road To Face No. 2 Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. –
Eastern Kentucky will play at No. 2 Tennessee on Tuesday.
 
First pitch in Knoxville is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.  The game will air live on the SEC Network Plus.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Volunteers are 16-2 against the Colonels.  Since beating Tennessee 8-7 in 2010, EKU has lost four straight in the series, including two games last season in Knoxville.
 
-  In two games against UT last season, Will King was a combined 2-for-6 with two RBIs.
 
THE COLONELS
-  Eastern Kentucky improved to 11-6 after securing its third straight weekend series victory with an 8-5 win over Austin Peay in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday.  The Colonels have won eight of their last nine.
 
-  Logan Thomason was chosen as EKU's first-ever ASUN Player of the Week on Monday.  The junior shortstop hit .563 (9-for-16) with seven runs and five RBIs over five games.  He had a .636 on-base percentage and one strike out in 16 at bats.
 
-  The pitching staff is second in the ASUN Conference with 165 strikeouts this season.
 
-  King is second in the ASUN with eight doubles and tied for second with 20 RBIs.  Max Williams is tied for third with 13 walks.  Thomason is tied for ninth with 16 runs.
 
-  Will Brian is tied for first in the league with six saves.  Niko Leontarakis is tied for first in wins (3) and second in ERA (1.50).
 
-  Freshman left-hander Isaac Milburn will start on the mound for the Colonels.  He is 0-0 this season with a 3.09 ERA over 11 and two-thirds innings.  He has made two starts in his four appearances.  Last week Milburn allowed three runs on six hits in four innings against Western Kentucky.  He walked one and struck out four.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Tennessee is 15-1 this season and riding a 7-game winning streak.  The Volunteers swept Rhode Island over the weekend, out-scoring URI 37-10.
 
-  UT's only loss was to Texas, ranked number one at the time, by a score of 7-2.
 
-  For the season, Tennessee has out-scored its opponents 197 to 40, an average of 12.3 runs per game.
 
-  Jared Dickey, who catches and plays left field, leads the team with a .511 batting average and 22 runs scored.  Third baseman Trey Lipscomb is hitting .414 with a team-best six home runs and 28 RBIs.
 
-  Ben Joyce has made seven appearances out of the bullpen without allowing a run over five innings.  He has given up just four hits, walked two and struck out seven.
 
-  Sophomore lefty Zander Sechrist will start for the fourth time this season for the Volunteers.  He is 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 11 and two-third innings.  In his last outing, Sechrist allowed one run on four hits over three innings against James Madison.  He walked two and struck out four.
