Colonels Head to Central Arkansas on Five Game Win Streak

First ASUN Road Trip of the Season

CONWAY, Ark. – After starting the ASUN Conference slate with two home wins over Kennesaw State and Stetson, Eastern Kentucky women's basketball heads to Central Arkansas for its first conference road game of the season on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2:00 p.m. ET inside Farris Center.
 
Saturday's contest can be viewed on ESPN+, fans can tune into the EKU Sports Network stream with Wes Chandler on the call at 92.5 WEKY.
 
The Colonels are coming off a huge 80-69 home win over Stetson to go 2-0 in conference play, with the win, EKU has won its first two ASUN games in consecutive seasons as a member in the league.
 
Antwainette Walker has been a force for Eastern Kentucky to begin league play, the Lisle, Ill. native leads the ASUN in points (21.9), rebounds (9.9), and steals (3.0) per game. Walker also leads the conference in six other statistical categories and is top-10 in the NCAA in double-doubles, made field goals, and points per game.
 
Marissa Mackins recorded 13 points in EKU's win over Stetson for her seventh straight game in double-figure scoring. Mackins recorded a season-high 27 points behind eight three pointers against Union, one shy of tying the Colonels' all-time record for made threes in a single contest.
 
Point guard Alice Recanati tallied eight assists in consecutive games to begin ASUN play. The Pre-season All-ASUN selection has led EKU in assists in 11-of-15 (.733) of games this season and 55 games throughout her career in Richmond.

Eastern Kentucky Notes
- With seven consecutive wins at home, EKU head coach Greg Todd moves to 17-6 (.739) all-time inside Baptist Health Arena.
- Emma Hacker and Ariel Kirkwood have both moved into the EKU all-time career block top-10 list this season, both averaging over 1.2 blocks per game.
- Danielle Rainey recorded the first triple-double in EKU program history with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists in the Colonels 110-49 win over Alice Lloyd.

All-Time vs. Central Arkansas
- Saturday's matchup is the sixth meeting between the Sugar Bears and the Colonels dating back to 2009, EKU leads the head-to-head series 3-2.
- Eastern Kentucky earned two wins over UCA last season in its inaugural season in the ASUN.
- The Colonels claimed the last meeting in Conway by a score of 65-59 in overtime, Hacker led the Colonels with 21 points on 63 percent shooting from the floor.
 
Scouting the Sugar Bears
- Central Arkansas is led by Sandra Rushing, who has 34 years of experience as a head coach, in 11 seasons with UCA she's compiled a record of 181-135 (.573).
- UCA is 5-8 on the season with D-I wins over Lindenwood, Louisiana-Monroe, and Little Rock. The team dropped their first two games in a gauntlet to kickoff ASUN play against Jacksonville State and Liberty. UCA has power-5 losses to Kansas State and Arkansas to begin the season.
- The Sugar Bears are led by freshman Parris Atkins out of Bryant, Ark. Atkins is up to 11.2 points per game and has tallied her career-high 16 points twice, including last time out against Liberty on the road.
- Junior forward Kierra Prim leads the Sugar Bears with 7.6 rebounds a night, out of her 99 rebounds on the year, 57 of them have been offensive, which is seventh in the country.
- Central Arkansas is 104th in the NCAA in scoring defense, holding its opponents to just 60.4 points per game.
