RICHMOND, Ky. – The Colonels will host UNC Asheville for a three-game series this weekend at Earle Combs Stadium.
Friday's series opener is set for 4 p.m. Game two will be Saturday at 2 p.m. The series finale is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games will air live on ESPN+.
Fans can receive a FREE EKU mug with the purchase of a hot chocolate on Friday and Saturday at the concessions stand. Friday will also be Country Music Night, with your favorite country music jams playing throughout the evening. Baseball Bingo will premiere on Friday, with the first three winners taking home an EKU baseball mini bat.
Sunday will be the first Kids Day of the season. All kids 12 and under receive FREE admission and will get to run the bases after the game.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- EKU is 10-0 all-time against UNC Asheville.
- The teams last played during the 2014 season in Asheville with the Colonels winning by scores of 3-1, 5-2 and 11-4.
THE COLONELS
- EKU is off to a 3-2 start to the 2023 season. The Colonels fell to Northern Kentucky at home on Tuesday, 6-5.

Michael Schuler is scheduled to start game one on the mound. He is 0-0 this season with a 5.40 ERA after one start. Junior right-hander
Rese Brown, who pitched six shutout innings and struck out nine in his season debut against South Alabama, will start on Saturday.
Rian Yates, a junior right-hander, will start the finale on Sunday. He is 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- UNC Asheville is 3-1 on the season. The Bulldogs opened the campaign by sweeping Sacred Heart. On Tuesday, UNCA fell at Wofford, 4-0.
- The Bulldogs out-scored Sacred Heart 25-6 in the season-opening series, scoring seven or more runs in all three games.
- Center fielder Robbie Burnett and shortstop Kohl Abrams lead the team with .417 batting averages. Burnett has a double, a home run, two stolen bases, five runs, five RBIs and five walks through four games. Abrams has also scored five runs.
- UNCA's Friday and Saturday starting pitchers have not allowed an earned run this season. Clay Edmondson, a sophomore right-hander, will start Friday after allowing one unearned run in six innings and striking out six in his season debut. Ryan Douglas, a senior righty, is scheduled to start on Saturday. He gave up two unearned runs and struck out eight in six innings of work in his first start. Sunday's starter has not been determined.
