KENNESAW, Ga. – EKU will make its first ASUN Conference road trip of the season this weekend when the Colonels play at Kennesaw State.
 
Friday's series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m.  Game two will be Saturday at 4 p.m.  The series finale is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.  All three games will air live on the Owl Network.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (8-12, 1-2 ASUN) took a 3-2 lead over No 16 Kentucky into the seventh inning on Tuesday, but couldn't hold off a late Wildcat comeback in a 9-3 loss.
 
-  
Rese Brown is fourth in the ASUN with 35 strikeouts this season and third with 12.12 strikeouts per nine innings.
 
-  
Logan Thomason is tied for 10th in the conference with seven doubles.  He begins the weekend with 198 career hits.
 
-  The Colonels are 10th in the nation with 1.00 double plays turned per game this season.
 
-  Brown, a junior right-hander with two quality starts this season, will take the mound for game one.  He is 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 26 innings.  
Cameron Kalandros, a junior righty, will make his third start of the season, and second straight weekend start, on Saturday.  In five total appearances he is 0-0 with a 0.98 ERA over 18 and one third innings.  
Luke Reed is scheduled to start the series finale on Sunday.  He will make his first start of the season.  In seven appearances the junior right-hander is 0-0 with a 1.50 ERA over 12 innings.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Kennesaw State is 8-11 this season and 0-3 in ASUN play.  The Owls began conference play last weekend at Stetson.  KSU fell to Clemson, 6-2, at home on Wednesday.
 
-  Designated hitter/pitcher Brayden Eidson leads the team with a .426 batting average and has scored 12 runs.  On the mound the junior lefty is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA in six appearances.  First baseman Donovan Cash is hitting .293 with a team-best four home runs and a team-high 20 RBIs.
 
-  Smith Pinson has made eight appearances out of the bullpen and is 1-0 with two saves.  He has not allowed an earned run in 15 and one-third innings.  The sophomore right-hander has walked just one batter and struck out 12.
-  Blake Wehunt, a junior right-hander, is scheduled to start game one for the Owls.  He is 2-1 with a 3.91 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 23 innings of work.  Braden Osbolt will get the ball for game two.  The freshman righty is 0-0 with a 4.74 ERA over 19 innings.  Nick Zegna, a right-handed grad student, will start the series finale.  He is 2-2 with a 4.22 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 21 and one-third innings.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  This is the first-ever meeting between the two baseball programs.
 
-  EKU and Kennesaw State were not scheduled to play during the regular season last year.  Both teams made it to the ASUN Tournament, but did not face each other.
