Baseball Home Stand Continues This Weekend Against Presbyterian

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's four-game baseball home stand will continue this weekend when Presbyterian College comes to Earle Combs Stadium for a three-game series.
 
Friday's series opener is scheduled for 4 p.m.  Due to poor weather conditions expected on Sunday, the teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
 
FREE EKU hats, sponsored by Coca-Cola will be given away while supplies last on Friday.  Baseball Bingo returns as well on Friday, with the first three winners taking home EKU baseball mini bats.  Saturday will be Kids Day.  All kids 12 and under receive FREE admission to both games and will get to play catch and run the bases on the field after game two.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series 6-2.
 
-  The teams last met on Feb. 27, 2021, splitting a doubleheader in Richmond that day.  PC won the first game 12-9 before the Colonels took game two 5-3.  Max Williams was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored in the win.  Bryce Travis pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU dropped to 4-9 this season after a 10-5 loss to Cincinnati on Wednesday.
 
-  Newcomer Miguel Larreal is batting a team-best .341 on the season.  He has two home runs and has scored 10 runs.
 
-  Second baseman Jalen Jones leads the team with 11 RBIs and is hitting .250.
 
Brock Blanton leads the team with seven pitching appearances.  He has not allowed a run in each of his last two appearances.
 
Rese Brown will get the start on Friday.  The junior right-hander is 1-1 with a 5.54 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 12 innings.  Freshman Nathan Lawson will make his first collegiate start on Saturday.  The righty has pitched six innings in four relief appearances, allowing one run on five hits and striking out five.  He is 0-0 with a 1.50 ERA.  The starter for the series finale has not been determined.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Presbyterian College is 7-6 in 2023.  The Blue Hose have wins over Western Carolina, Toledo, Northwestern and Michigan State.  PC fell at Clemson, 5-3, on Wednesday.
 
-  Second baseman Jack Gorman leads the team with a .360 batting average and is tied for the team lead with eight RBIs.  Right fielder Joel Dragoo is batting .283 with a team-high four home runs, a team-best 14 runs scored and eight RBIs.
 
-  Luke Gibson, a left-hander, and righty Tanner Smith each have two saves.  Gibson has made five relief appearances and carries a 3.46 ERA over 13 innings.  Smith has also made five trips to the mound in relief and has a 1.35 ERA over six and two-thirds innings.

-  Duncan Howard is scheduled to start game one of the series for the Blue Hose.  The junior right-hander is 1-1 with a 5.54 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 12 innings.  Fenix Digiacomo, a sophomore righty, will start game two.  He is 2-1 with a 7.20 ERA.  Charlie McDaniel will get the ball for game three.  The junior left-hander is 1-2 with a 10.93 ERA.
