BOSTON / SEATTLE – It was an action-packed Friday for the Eastern Kentucky University men's track and field team at the Husky Classic in Washington and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston on Friday.
Mario Priego Montero turned in the performance of the day with an 11th-place finish in Boston in the men's 3,000 meters, running a personal best time of 7:50.36.
The time is now the third fastest ever in EKU history.
Also running in the event were
Ty Blair and
Will Cahill, who finished 81
st and 113
th in times of 8:10.52 and 8:17.59, respectively.
In the men's mile, freshman
Hamish Murray ran a personal best of 4
:06.66.
Wrapping things up in Boston was
Miguel Baidal, who finished 14
th in the 5,000m in a time of 13:50.07.
In Washington,
Bradley Giblin led the way for a trio of Colonels in the men's 3,000m, including
Kristian Imroth and
Taha Er Raouy with Giblin and Imroth winning their respective heats.
Giblin finished in 10
th in a time of 7:52.82, with Imroth and Er Raouy finishing closely in 12
th and 13
th in 7:43.44 and 7:54.00, respectively.
Weekend action continues for EKU on Saturday in Washington and Boston, along with 41 entries at the Centre Indoor Invite.
