RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team's game with Murray State on Sunday has been pushed back to 1:30 due to rain. Check back to this website for updates.

The Colonels (19-14, 6-6 OVC) were swept at Tennessee Tech last weekend and are looking to bounce back on their home dirt. EKU is 13-3 at Turkey Hughes Field this year.

EKU enters the weekend all alone in fourth place in the conference, trailing only Eastern Illinois, Southeast Missouri State and Jacksonville State. The Colonels will face a sixth-place Murray State team that is 20-15 (3-5 OVC) and took two of three from SEMO just last weekend.

EKU is 38-30 against Murray State since 1984; however, the Thoroughbreds took two of three from the Colonels last year at Turkey Hughes Field.

EKU is paced by its offense this year. The Colonels are second in the conference and fourth in the country with a .356 team batting average. They are also fourth in the country in scoring as they plate an impressive 10.4 runs per game.

Senior Matt Davis and sophomore Jayson Langfels lead the Colonels’ explosive offense. Davis is batting .444 and leads the country in runs per game with 1.83. The speedy centerfielder has not played in EKU’s last four games and his 53 runs scored are still 12 more than anyone else in the OVC.

Langfels, meanwhile, leads the Colonels with nine home runs and 43 RBI. The hard-hitting third baseman has compiled a stellar .863 slugging percentage and currently leads the nation with 1.87 RBI per game.

Both Davis and Langfels have been nicked up recently, however, and their status for this weekend is still up in the air. The Colonels have lost six of seven since the duo’s injuries.

The Colonel pitching staff is also banged up. One of EKU’s weekend starters, Junior Chris Hord (1-2), is injured and will more than likely not throw against Murray State. The Colonels’ probable weekend rotation now looks like this: sophomore southpaw Paul Duncan (4-3), junior righty Jim Clancy (3-2) and the third starter still up in the air.

The Breds are led by Louisville native Wes Cunningham. Cunningham enters this weekend batting a stellar .452 with six home runs. Daniel Hill, meanwhile, provides the fire power for Murray State. Hill leads the Breds with nine long balls and 40 runs driven in.

Murray State has two aces it can put on the hill. Daniel Calhoun is 7-1 this year with a 1.83 ERA while Chis Craycraft is 5-2 with a 3.83 ERA. The latter will start game on for the Breds while the former will go in game two. Murray State’s Sunday starter is also still up in the air.

Saturday’s doubleheader will get underway at 1:00 p.m.. First pitch for Sunday’s single game is also scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
