GAME ONE BOX | PLAY-BY-PLAY
RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team took both ends of a doubleheader from Austin Peay Saturday afternoon at Turkey Hughes field, 10-1 and 8-4. The Colonels (16-14, 5-3 OVC) are now 5-0 at home against OVC opponents.
Game one saw EKU capitalize on eight Austin Peay (17-14, 3-5 OVC) errors. Junior
Jayson Langfels opened the scoring with his 11th home run of the season in the first inning. The Colonels added a pair of unearned runs in the second frame to build a 3-0 lead.
After the Governors closed the gap to 3-1 in the fifth, Eastern responded with seven runs in the seventh inning to put the game away. Six Colonels produced a hit in the frame highlighted by a towering RBI triple to center field from Langfels. Austin Peay helped the inning along by committing four errors, including errors on each of the first two batters in the inning.
Junior
Stephen Hefler (3-2) picked up the victory by scattering six hits over seven innings and limiting the Govs to only one run. Sophomore

Macon Smith finished the game by each throwing a scoreless inning.
GAME TWO BOX | PLAY-BY-PLAY
The top four hitters in the Eastern Kentucky line-up went a combined 8-for-12 (.667) at the plate in game two to help the Colonels complete the sweep.
EKU scored four runs in the bottom of the third to extend its lead to 7-2. Senior
Anthony Ottrando ripped a double down the left field line to score two the first two runs of the inning.
The Governors fought back in the top of the fourth with two runs. Austin Peay was primed to score at least one more run only to see Colonel starter
Paul Duncan strike out the final two batters with a runner on third base. Duncan (3-1) allowed four runs in 6.2 innings and struck out eight Governors.
Austin Peay was held scoreless in the last three innings, but left the bases loaded in the top of the seventh. Harris relieved Duncan with the bases loaded and closed the game with another strike out.
The two teams will conclude the three-game set tomorrow, April 11 beginning at 1 p.m.
