RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky led 1-0 going into the eighth, but Southern Illinois Edwardsville scored four in the final two innings to pull out a 4-2 win.

The Colonels (17-21, 7-9 OVC) drew first blood in the bottom of the second.  With one out, Ben Fisher singled to left field.  TJ Alas followed with a double to left center to put two runners on.  Taylor Blair's ground ball to first base was enough to score Fisher and stake the home squad to a 1-0 lead.

SIU Edwardsville (13-22, 10-9 OVC) took advantage of a dropped fly ball with two outs to score three runs in the eighth.  Nick Lombardo and Brian Sipe came home on the error.  Skyler Geissinger followed with an RBI double to push the visitor's in front 3-1.

Eastern got one back in the bottom half of the eighth on a scorching double down the left field line by Kenny Hostrander.  Blair scored from first on the play.  With runners on the corners, Kyle Nowlin grounded into an extremely close double play to end the rally attempt.

SIUE starter Ryan Daniels (6-0) tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on six hits.  He walked one and struck out one.  EKU starter Tanner Perkins (3-6) gave up three runs in eight and two-thirds innings, but all three were unearned.  He allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out six.

Six different Eastern batters finished with one hit each.  Lombardo had a 4-for-5 night with a run scored for SIU Edwardsville.

The Colonels and Cougars continue their three-game series on Friday.  First pitch at Turkey Hughes Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
