EKU Hosts OVC Rival Murray State for Senior Day

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team concludes its 2008 home schedule Saturday against OVC rival Murray State. Game time at Roy Kidd Stadium is set for 1 p.m.

Eastern Kentucky (6-3, 5-1 OVC) is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference with Tennessee State and UT Martin. A victory over Murray State would keep the Colonels alive for the automatic bid to the FCS playoffs in two weeks.

Before the start of the game Saturday, EKU will honor its 17 seniors – wide receiver Casey Burke, defensive lineman Chris Coy, defensive back Zach Denton, wide receiver Stephon Fuqua, defensive back Brandon Gathof, defensive lineman Chris Harris, quarterback Allan Holland, defensive lineman Aaron Jones, linebacker Tyjuan Jones, placekicker Taylor Long, offensive lineman Rashaud Mungro, linebacker Clint Perry, center Sam Reid, tight end Stephen Sizemore, defensive back Kody Tuupo, linebacker Ryan Viana and long snapper Brad Willoughby.

Murray State (4-6, 3-3) is coming off a 17-10 victory over Southeast Missouri last week. The Racer defense held the Redhawks to four yards rushing and 192 total offensive yards. Last year, quarterback Jeff Ehrhardt threw for 344 yards and five scores against the Colonels.

This will be the 64th consecutive season Eastern Kentucky and Murray State have met on the football field. Both schools are original members of the OVC which was formed in 1948. The two teams have combined to win 27 OVC crowns.
