RICHMOND, Ky.
- The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team won its fourth straight game on Saturday, defeating Toledo, 10-5, in the final game of the 2009 RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Colonels (7-5) continued to swing hot bats, compiling 14 hits on the day without committing an error.

Sophomore Paul Duncan (2-2) started on the mound for the Colonels and worked five strong innings, allowing just one run.

Freshman Eric Sanders pitched the sixth inning gave up just one run on one hit. Senior Alex Napier came on in the seventh and allowed two runs on three hits. Freshman Matt Harris worked the eighth and ninth and held the Rockets to just one run.

Junior Joey Stevens put the Colonels on the board in the second inning when he blasted a solo shot that made it 1-0. Three batters later, freshman Richie Rodriguez laced a bases-clearing triple that put EKU up by four.

Toledo got one run back before Senior Tyler Rehmel rocketed a two-run double to center in the fourth inning that put the Colonels up 6-1.

After Toledo plated one run in the sixth and two in the seventh to cut EKU's lead to two, the Colonels scored four in the top of the ninth to put the game away. With one away, junior Anthony Ottrando knocked a base hit that scored Rodriguez. Rehmel then roped a single that scored senior Matt Davis. Finally, Stevens delivered again, this time driving a double into left center that scored Ottrando and Rehmel.

The Colonels return to action on Tuesday, March 17, when they host in-state rival Western Kentucky in a doubleheader.
