LOUISVILLE, Ky. – It was a medal-filled final day at the ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, with EKU claiming 10 medals between the men's and women's teams.
At the end of the day, the men finished in third with 95 points while the women finished 6
th with 75.
The day began in historic fashion as in the men's mile,
Bradley Giblin and
Kristian Imroth both produced sub-four-minute miles, finishing first and second in 3:59.04 and 3:59.19, respectively.
Giblin's winning time marked a new championship meet record for the ASUN Conference.
Also, earning points was
Keeton Thornsberry, who finished fifth.
The men went first and second again in the 3,000m as
Taha Er Raouy comfortably claimed first with a time of 7:56.48 followed by
Mario Priego Montero in second at 8:01.98.
Brian Kimutai and
Miguel Baidal also earned points with fourth and seventh-place finishes.
For the second consecutive indoor season,
Lariah Wooden took gold in the women's shot put with a winning mark of 14.59m.
On the men's side, Matt See took a silver medal with a final mark of 16.65m.
In the women's mile,
Metrine Serem got on the podium with a second-place finish via a personal best time of 4:44.32.
Later in the day, Serem earned another medal in the 800m, finishing third with a time of 2:10.45 while teammate
Irene Rubio Miralles took fourth in 2:11.55.
Finishing action on the track,
Brighter Jepchumba took third in the women's 3,000m, finishing in 9:26.59, while
Morgan Kobylinski took sixth.
