RICHMOND, Ky. – Eight Eastern Kentucky University track and field athletes will compete this week at the NCAA East First Rounds, hosted by the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
The Colonels will be looking to punch their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, held June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.
All four days of the championships will air on ESPN+.
Bradley Giblin kicks off the action in the first round of the men's 1,500 meters on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. If he advances to the quarterfinals of the event, he will race again on Friday at 5:15 p.m.
Miguel Baidal and
Mohammed Jouhari will race in the semifinals of the men's 10,000 meters on Wednesday at 9:10 p.m. The top 12 finishers in that race will punch their tickets to Eugene.
Brighter Jepchumba will compete in the semifinals of the women's 10,000 meters on Thursday night at 9:10 p.m. The top 12 finishers in that race will punch their tickets to Eugene.
Kristian Imroth will race in the quarterfinals of the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday at 5:40 p.m. The top three from each heat, plus the next three fastest times will advance to Eugene.

Mario Priego Montero will go in the semifinals of the men's 5,000 meters on Friday night at 8:10 p.m. The top five finishers from each heat, plus the next two fastest times will punch their tickets to the NCAA Championships.
Jepchumba and
Edna Chelulei will close out the meet by racing in the semifinals of the women's 5,000 meters on Saturday evening at 8:10 p.m. The top five finishers from each heat, plus the next two fastest times will advance to Eugene in that race.
