Hall of Fame
Our fourth inductee started three seasons and lettered all four years from 1974-77 at quarterback for the EKU football Colonels. He was the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 1976 along with fellow EKU Athletics Hall of Fame member, tailback Everett “Poo-Loo” Talbert. That junior season he set a new Eastern record for most yards total offense with 1,685 yards and led the Colonels to the OVC title with an 8-3 record. In 1975 and 1976 he was named first team All-America among Phi Delta Theta fraternity members nationwide in the small college division. In 1977, he was named first team All-America among all members nationwide in all divisions of football recognition. In his sophomore season as Eastern’s starting quarterback, he tied an Eastern school record (which was just passed last week when T.J. Pryor threw for five TD’s) for TD passes in a single game when he threw four in a 49-0 defeat of Austin Peay. In all three years in which he started for the Colonels, he finished among the OVC’s top two in most yards total offense and most yards passing, setting single season school records in both categories. While serving two seasons as team co-captain, he finished his Eastern career with 4,011 yards passing and 28 TD’s, while adding another 571 yards rushing and 14 rushing TD’s. He was voted offensive MVP by his teammates in 1976 and 1977. As businessman with an entrepreneurial spirit, he continues to be actively involved in several different businesses that he has either purchased or developed with his partners. He also gives of his time to his church and community serving on several different boards and foundations in his hometown of London. Currently, he is serving his second term on the EKU Board of Regents.
