White ran track for coach Rick Erdmann from 1981-83 after being named National Junior College All-American in three events – the 60-meter dash, the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash while competing for Hagerstown Junior College. He was also a record holder at Hagerstown in these three sprint events and qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1980. Recruited to Eastern by his coach at Hagerstown, Rick Erdmann, he never broke stride as a Colonel, setting school records in the 55-meter dash with a clocking of 6.28, the 60-meter dash at 6.74, the 100-meter dash (10.32) and being a member of the record-setting 4x100 meter relay with a time of 39.91.  He was also a two-time U.S. Olympic Trials Qualifier, an NCAA All-American, and a Pan American Games finalist, all in the 100 meters.  He closed his career at Eastern in 1983 as a 12-time collegiate All-American.
