Karl Park served as Eastern Kentucky University’s Sports Information Director from 1970 through 2003. One of the most revered figures in his field, Park ranked eighth nationally among college sports information directors with 271 consecutive football games worked when he retired. Since his retirement, Park has continued his affiliation by working with the radio crew during football games and serving on athletics department committees. 

In the summer of 2006, Park was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from CoSIDA, the national organization of sports information directors. 

Throughout his career, Park served as the contact for 84 Ohio Valley Conference championship teams and two national football championship squads. A member of the OVC Hall of Fame, Park also served on the 40th and 50th Anniversary Celebration Committees in 1988 and 1998. 

He spent eight years on the Verizon CoSIDA Academic All-America Committee as District IV Coordinator for the Men’s University Division Soccer, Cross Country/Track and Baseball Teams. He also served a six-year stint as Mideast Director of the National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Association. 

Karl and his wife Shelley, EKU’s Director of Student Financial Aid, have two children, Rachel, and EKU graduate, and Drew.
